- The recording above is a demo mode of the app whose sounds are invented, because a GIF carries no audio. Nothing in it is a real candidate, and nothing here claims how any of it sounds.
- Free sound-effect sites are slow to browse and inconsistent about what their licences allow, so picking a sound costs far more time than listening to one. The audition app moves that cost off the person doing the listening: candidates arrive pre-filtered on one local page, each with a play button, its length, its licence, and whether it needs a credit line.
- Space plays, K keeps, R rejects. A reject asks why from a fixed list of reasons, so the same unusable file is never offered twice and the reasons accumulate into a record of what was wanted.
- A keep is the approval to download that one file, and nothing else is ever fetched. Candidates stream their previews from the source site until then.
- CHEF!'s sound list — 54 sounds, from chopping and a grill sizzle to a card terminal and the restaurant's background murmur — now has 198 candidates waiting, up to 4 per sound. Only public domain and attribution licences were collected, so nothing picked becomes a problem if the game is sold later.
- Behind the app: a search tool that reads several sound sites, a measurement pass that reports length, peaks, clipping, silence at the head or tail and whether a stereo file is secretly mono, and a delivery step that writes a per-file licence table into the game's folder.
An audition app for picking game sounds, and 198 candidates for CHEF!
