One amount per ingredient: "2 bay leaves", not "1–2". Chilies, water and "to taste" still give a range, so you can set the heat and the thickness.
"Optional" is written one consistent way across about 45 recipes, without the sales pitches.
Pans are just "large", not a size you'd have to measure.

Tomato Basil Soup and Yogurt Cheesecake Bake: skip the cream.
Thai Peanut Noodle and Tuna Macaroni Salad: light pasta.
Healthier versions now describe the sweetener as "low-calorie".
