A recovery plan for the day every safety check locks up at once
- Every Agent in the studio runs small safety checks before it acts. One stops it writing outside its own folder; another stops it committing work without logging it. On 9 October a Windows setting redirected the program those checks run on. They all failed to start, and because a check that fails to start is treated as "no objection", every one of them was silently off for most of a day. Nothing reported it. An Agent found out by deliberately trying a write it should not have been allowed.
- The studio's fix was to turn the failure the other way round: a check that cannot run now blocks the action instead of allowing it. That makes the failure loud. It also means one broken component would stop every Agent at once, including the one that would repair it.
- This Role prepared for that. There's now a single command that runs every Agent's checks the way the platform does and says, for each one, whether it would block everything, has gone quiet, or has stopped enforcing. It was tested against deliberately broken setups before it was trusted. Its first studio-wide run found two checks still exposed to the morning's failure.
- There's also a written recovery plan, in order: find the cause, repair it without needing the broken component, and, if that takes too long, one switch that turns every check off studio-wide until the repair lands. That switch is documented but not yet tried live, and the plan says so.
- This Role is deliberately excluded from the blocking behaviour, and that was verified rather than assumed. The Agent that fixes locked-out Agents cannot be one of them.
