Keeping the studio cheap to run
Usage
Every message resends a session's whole history, so size is cost. Three changes made on one morning cut the rate to about a fifth for the same work — and a later measurement from the transcripts showed the real figure was better still.
How it runs
- Measure from the transcripts
- Convert to a share of the budget
- Change the expensive thing
- Record the evidence
The pieces
- Clear at task end
- History is the bill; finish, save your place, start fresh.
- Low effort by default
- Raised deliberately, not as a habit.
- A daily share of the budget
- The limit is a weekly quota, not hours in a day.
- Measure round trips, not words
- Terseness saves almost nothing; a stop-and-restart costs a whole re-read.
